Food Allergy War, The

Synopsis
Looks into the claims of a group of American ecologists who believe that they can find the causes of common food allergies - which are held responsible for migraine, eczema, fatigue, depression, joint pains, heart palpitations and bowel disease - and consequently their cures. Shows how the concept of food allergy has developed since the 1950s and examines current research to see whether it vindicates the claims of the clinical ecologists. Notes that many chronic complaints may have simple causes and cures, and looks at the politics of medical research, showing just how difficult it can be to get new ideas accepted when they challenge the existing system. Notes the efficacy of some possible cures such as neutralisation therapy, a form of immunotherapy first developed by clinical ecologists.
