Fly-By-Wire
- Synopsis
- Advances in aviation technology give computers a central role in the control of modern jet aircraft. For many years military aircraft have incorporated fly-by-wire technology. The first fly-by-wire civil aircraft, the European Airbus A320 is now in service, and the future of the European aerospace industry depends crucially upon its success. The safety of this aircraft is examined, and the programme contains interviews with two of the world’s leading aircraft designers, Joe Sutter of Boeing and Roger Beteille of Airbus.
