Synopsis
Films of the 1953 floods in East Anglia and earlier floods including 1937 and 1947 in the fens. Includes sequences filmed around Hunstanton, Gorleston, Felixstowe, Harwich and Canvey Island and a film showing how the Purfleet margarine factory was brought back into production. Professor Keith Clayton explains the causes of flooding, and shows how a North Sea surge can occur, with disastrous results.
