Flexible Learning Approach to Physics (Flap), Course S570

Synopsis
Video, audio and software package comprising 83 self-study modules for introductory physics and related mathematics. It is designed as a resource from which a variety of flexible-entry, self-study courses can be assembled. Also includes a student handbook, a relational glossary, a testing package, and various tutor support materials, including a bank of assessment questions with full solutions.
1: A compilation providing explanations of some mathematical ideas frequently used in physics. The four bands cover algebraic equations, trigonometric functions, vectors and complex numbers.
2: A compilation describing concepts in classical mechanics and electrostatics. The six bands cover the motion of projectiles, Newton’s laws of motion, circular motion, moment of inertia, angular momentum and electrostatic potential.
3: A compilation describing concepts in wave mechanics, thermodynamics and atomic theory. The six bands cover the physics of music, diffraction and intereference of waves, an atomic description of temperature, the electron’s charge, atomic spectra, and the differences between different elements.
4: A compilation describing concepts in quantum mechanics. The five bands cover the photoelectric effect, wave-particle duality (fro both perspectives), the uncertainty relation, and the quantum mechanical description of confined particles.
