Authors are Sylvia Plath (autobiography in selected poems), Dylan Thomas (the language of ‘Under Milk Wood’ and selected poems), Charles Dickens (filmic and musical interpretations of ‘Oliver Twist’), Maya Angelou (in performance and as autobiographer of ‘I know why the caged bird sings’), and Nadine Gordimer (the place and time of ‘July’s people’).
