Fire in Store

Synopsis
Following a major fire in the Manchester Woolworth’s store in 1979, the Fire Research Station carried out various experiments with sprinkler systems to try to find an efficient way of controlling furniture fires. This film is a record of the experiments using instruments to measure temperatures, visibility and concentrations of smoke and toxic gases, and different number variations of sprinklers.
