Film in Victorian Britain
- Synopsis
- A video-based package for teaching both Media and the Victorian Britain topic in KS2 history. The video is a compilation of 33 short films made between 1896 and 1905. An emphasis on actuality footage provides glimpses of street life, games and pastimes, dress and transport in the 1890s and brief footage of Queen Victoria. The written materials cover how films were made, advertised, sold and shown and discuss how the first audiences reacted to the new medium.
