Anaesthesia for Morbid Obesity

Synopsis
Demonstrates a technique for safe administration and maintenance of anaesthesia in a patient undergoing gastric stapling as treatment for obesity. The patient is not sedated prior to the surgery, is able to climb on and off the operating theatre table, and is aware and pain-free within minutes of leaving the theatre. This rapid recovery from the anaesthetic combined with early mobilisation of the patient greatly decreases the preoperative risks normally associated with surgery on the obese.
