Fatal Flaw, The

Alternative title
Ferries: The Fatal Flaw
Synopsis
After the sinking of the ferry ‘Estonia’ on 28 September 1994, the programme looks at the failure of governments and ferry companies to address the real problem of roll-on roll-off car ferries - their design, which makes them fatally vulnerable once water gets onto the car deck. Looks at why warnings were ignored and why considerations of cost have been allowed to prevail over safety at sea.
