Farce du Cuvier, La
- Synopsis
- A French medieval farce set in the kitchen of a recently married couple. Jacquinot, the husband, complaining about the way his wife and mother-in-law treat him, is coerced into signing a ‘rolet’ listing his domestic duties. Resentfully pulling the laundry from ‘la femme’ causes her to fall into ‘le cuvier’, requiring his unlisted aid to be rescued. Jacquinot solves the dilemma of perpetual slavery to domesticity, leaving ‘la femme’ and ‘la mere’ to repair the damage done to the domestic scene.
