Synopsis
Kyogen is the name of the short comic piece which is included as an interlude in the Noh drama. The film shows a leading Kyogen troupe in Tokyo, made up of the Nomura family members and a small number of pupils who live with the family. Follows the actors for several weeks as they prepare a new play and shows the rigorous training that the younger actors must go through in order to acquire the minutely detailed stage gestures and vocal articulation. Includes sequence showing traditional mask making.
