A series exploring the creative possibilities of still photography.
1: Not only can photography record movement, but it can also interpret it imaginatively. Includes an interview with Ernst Haas, international famous for his highly original colour photographs.
2: The visual challenge of portrait photography is illustrated through the work of American photographer Arnold Newman and British photographers Duffy and Griffin.
3: Deals with a wide variety of approaches to landscape photography, including the adventurous colour work of Ernst Haas and the more symbolic black-and-white of John Blakemore.
4: Two of Britain’s leading photo-journalists, Ian Berry and Don McCullin, illustrate the British way of life through strongly contrasting sytles.
5: Shows how photographers attempt to record the environment in which people live. Includes interviews with Chris Killip and American colour photographer Joel Meyerowitz.
6: Many photographers are exploring the limits of the photographic medium in order to discover new ways of expressing themselves. Includes an interview with British photographer Paul Hill.
