Experiments with Sound
- Synopsis
- Mandy Miller, Deputy Head at Meeching Valley School, Newhaven, demonstrates the type of lesson structure which can be used for investigative learning with the younger primary school child. Shows her strategies as she encourages the pupils to think and talk about sounds, based around the recorder. She varies the lesson from teacher-centred to child-centred activities - both involving the children in use of language, as she manages to hold their attention and interest for a considerable period of time for this age group. A voice-over makes some general points concerning teacher styles and strategies.
