Eulerian and Lagrangian Descriptions in Fluid Mechanics
- Synopsis
- Illustrates the two principal ways of describing fluid motion, using computer-generated displays of displacement, velocity and acceleration fields for single flows. The physical relationship between the two descriptions, and the possibility of choosing a Eulerian framework in which the velocity is steady. The physical meaning of the material derivative is illustrated for both scaler and vector fields.
