Synopsis
A case study of the methods used by manufacturers of compact discs (CDs) to provide quality and reliability of performance The quality of sound from a CD is much higher than that obtained from a vinyl record. Achieving this quality requires sophisticated engineering and mathematics. Looks at both the engineering techniques used to ensure that the track on the disc is folowed accuratelfy and the mathematical coding rules used to correct errors in the recorded material.
