Synopsis
Shows aspects of amoeba in culture: size, movement, pseudopodia, inclusions, nucleus. With vital staining, lipid inclusions, feeding and species identification by nucleus characteristics are shown; with iron haematoxylin staining, division, commensal behaviour, cysts and nuclear divisions. Includes the spread of cysts, various pathogenic forms, dysenteric amoeba and the histology of ulceration. Uses high magnification shots of living ‘E. histolytica’ in conjunction with animated diagrams.
