Altitudinal Zonation and Plant Life

Synopsis
Dr. David Bellamy (plant ecologist) and Dr. Alan Pearson (plant physiologist) discuss altitudinal zonation in the Dolomites with a detailed discussion of the plant communities found in the region of Cortina. The physical factors affecting plant distribution such as light, temperature, water, atmosphere and soil are discussed. Six slides show plants from the region, three show direct aspects of zonation, line of vegetation and phytomass, and the remaining transparencies deal with physical factors in graphical and tabular form.
