Energetics of Life, The

Synopsis

Illustrates concepts in energy transfer such as free energy and entropy, and shows why some molecules, particularly the ATP molecule, have potential energy. Shows how energy transfer begins with energy from the sun, converted with the help of the ATP molecule into potential energy in molecules such as glucose. Depicts reactions which break down glucose and other molecules, particularly oxidation reactions which generate ATP molecules*.
