Enemies of the Oak

Synopsis
A year in the life of a 300-year-old oak. Begins in October when the wingless female winter moth climbs the oak to mate and lay her eggs. During late April the buds on the oak open and the catkins are ready to fertilise the smaller, female flowers. In June the oak’s leaves are ravaged by caterpillars. The acorns are threatened by weevils in the summer months.
