- Describes the literary situation immediately after World War 1 when Edgell Rickword began to contribute to the ‘TLS’, the ‘New Statesman’ and other literary journals. Gives an account of the ‘Calendar of Modern Letters’ which he founded in 1925 and terminated in 1927. He gives his views on the political influences on writers of the Thirties and his subsequent career as editor of the ‘Left Review’.
