Earth’s Crust, The

Synopsis
Scientists from the British Antarctic Survey are conducting the most comprehensive study ever attempted of a little-known group of volcanic islands in the South Atlantic. These remote islands lie 2000km south-east of the Falkland Islands and have been rarely visited since they were discovered in 1775 by Captain Cook. They are uniquely significant in what they can reveal about the composition, structure and movement of the earth’s crust.
