Dynamic Strategy
- Synopsis
- Case study of the global fast-food chain Hard Rock Café, and its parent company the Rank Organisation, presenting a behind-the-scenes look at an opening of a new branch in Cape Town, South Africa. The close management of intangibles such as brand and service has proved successful for the company for the last 25 years, but while Hard Rock has some distinctive assets, success for the future cannot be ensured. The programme reviews the company’s resources and methods, and then focuses on its strategy for the future. Along with brand and product extension - in the form of a Hard Rock record label and television show, the main thrust of these plans is continued global expansion of the restaurant business. Recreating food and service US-style in another culture, however, can prove difficult.

- NB. As of May 2016 Open University Worldwide are no longer distributing DVDs. They have posted this message on their website: ‘Unfortunately Open University Worldwide Limited has decided that product sales are no longer viable given the reduced funding to Higher Education institutions and diminishing demand for the products we have traditionally stocked. At present the Open University Students Association (OUSA) will continue to sell the "Good Study Guide", and we are in discussion with other possible distributors to continue to make The Open University’s products available for purchase. As soon as we have any information on other channels of distribution we will update this notice’. Some products are still available via second hand dealers on Amazon.co.uk
