Synopsis
The Gate Theatre was the creation in the 1920s of Hilton Edwards and Micheál macLiammóir, two of Ireland’s most illustrious and colourful stage personalities - the one a director of sensitivity and an actor of impeccable range and technique, the other a flamboyant designer and one of the most romantic actors of his generation. Their careers are outlined against the history of the Gate, and its repertoire.
