Drum is Made, A: A Study of Yoruba Drum Carving

Synopsis
Shows the construction of an iyá‡lu dundun by a Nigerian craftsman from selection of a tree, carving and hollowing of the log to the preparation of goat skins for the drum head. The finished drum is then played to demonstrate how the drum can be made to imitate the sounds of the Yoruba language.
