Divorce Iranian Style

Synopsis
Observes some of the cases brought before the Family Law Courts in Tehran. The three main characters are Jamileh, who punishes her husband for beating her; Ziba, a 16-year-old girl who is trying to get a divorce from her 38-year-old husband; and Maryam, who is fighting for custody of her daughters after remarrying. The film concentrates on ordinary women who come to this court to try and transform their lives, rather than showing Iran as a country of war, hostages and fatwas.

The DVD also contains the Kim Longinotto film RUNAWAY as well as an interview with director Kim Longinotto, Booklet essays by Mark Cousins and Ziba Mir-Hosseini.
