Synopsis
In 2 parts: 1) examines the lives of French workers including silk-weavers, coal miners, winemakers and gunsmiths in the late 19th-early 20th century, highlighting the living and working conditiions of French workers in this period; 2) looks at industrialisation from an academic historical viewpoint through interviews with Sidney Pollard and Clive Trebilcock.
