Difficult Homecoming, A
- Synopsis
- When the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, a vision of a new united Europe swept over Europe. Five years on, that vision is fading with West European politicians fearing the cost of closer relationships with their far poorer Eastern neighbours. Looks at the fears and hopes of the new capitalist economies of Eastern Europe. Countries such as Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic fear German economic colonisation. The hopes are of integration into the European Union.
