Synopsis
Examines dietary fibre, fibre content of foods, biochemistry and physiological effect of fibre with particular reference to faecal bulking and intestinal transit time. Interactions of fibre and carbohydrate absorption in normal subjects are explained and related to the treatment of patients with diabetes, dumping syndrome and hyperlipidaemia.
