Diagnosis of Childhood Schizophrenia

Synopsis
Traces the step-by-step procedure of screening clinical data in order to establish the diagnosis of childhood schizophrenia. This process involves a review of the pertinent historical material, psychological test findings, and clinical observations, while noting the absence of significant medical neurological and laboratory test results. Differential diagnosis follows to rule out clinical syndromes with which childhood schizophrenia is commonly confused. The teamwork involved in the diagnostic effort is emphasised throughout. Concludes with a therapeutic sequence which, in addition to pointing up some of the pathognomonic features that were presented also demonstrates the clinical approach to the schizophrenic child.
