Synopsis
Lectures given at the University of Florida by Professor Peter Landsberg. Topics covered are 1) basic solid state theory - Bloch theorem, Wannier’s theorem, Fermi’s golden rule; 2) more specialised quantum mechanics - various transitions involving bands and/or traps, Coulomb interaction effects for electrons and holes including its matrix element, determinental wave functions, screening, perturbation theory; 3) applications, mainly to impact ionisation, the effective mass sum rule, tunneling, overlap integrals.
