Decerebrate Rabbit, The

Synopsis
Illustrates some simple experiments which may be performed on a decerebrate rabbit preparation. Shows how to set up the preparation for recording arterial blood pressure, electrocardiogram and respiration, and the basic elements of the blood pressure control system are described. The effects of electrical stimulation of the vagus and depressor nerves before and after section, temporary occlusion of a carotid artery, and injections of noradrenaline are then demonstrated. The film ends by observing the effects of an air embolism.
