Air Pollution
- Synopsis
- Town air may be polluted by very many particles and gases, the physical and chemical nature of which is complex. Their action on the human body depends not only on their concentration and nature but also on the physical and chemical forms which they assume after residence in the air. In this film some of the particles are displayed and the experimental and epidemiological approaches to the investigation of their action are demonstrated. There has been a remarkable diminution in pollution by smoke and sulphur dioxide in London in the last 20 years and the beneficial effects on health have been noted. These trends are discussed.
