Days of Hope (4 Parts)
- Synopsis
- A dramatised documentary series interpreting British labour history from a socialist angle. After depicting the plight of conscientious objectors in the First World War, and a significant sideways glance at Ireland during the Black-and-Tan intervention following the Easter uprising, the series concentrates mainly on the north-east coalfield and on London as the Everyman hero goes through struggle and ultimate disillussion, but not despair, when his hopes for working-class equality and fraternity are frustrated.
