Dances with Llamas
- Synopsis
- Charts the preparations for Tinku, the raucous annual festival in Tamacuri, an ancient village high in the Bolivian Andes and home to the Macha people. Tinku is a chaotic, deadly affair banned by the village priest and local mayor. The programme offers an insight into the villagers’ arduous lifestyles and culminates in Tinku itself, ushered in by the sacrificing of two llamas, followed by the fall of decorum, law and order.
