Synopsis
Four dances by the New York-based company Dance Theatre of Harlem: Agnes de Mille’s ‘Fall River Legend’ inspired by the Lizzie Borden 1982 murder of her father and stepmother; Robert North’s ‘Troy Game’, an acrobatic satire of the macho man; Lester Horton’s ‘The Beloved’, a duet in which a jealous man strangles his wife whom he suspects of being unfaithful; Arthur Mitchell’s ‘John Henry’, ‘a tale of the steel drivin’ man who challenged the steam drill, but died with a hammer in his hand.' Music composed by Morton Gould, Judith Hamilton, Bob Downes, Milton Rosenstock.
