- Synopsis
- Explores the three basic principles of ancient Indian theatre and dance: rhythm, shape and expression. Uses demonstration group of junior school dancers and another of secondary school dancers. Highlights include a section of ‘murdas’, the exquisite hand gestures that take on the form of exotic birds, fish and flowers to accentuate facial expression. Also explains the Indian dance and mime tradition as prayer, celebration and storytelling, often inspired by classical literature.*
