Daasi (Slaves)
- Synopsis
- Exposes the social injustices and exploitation of the lives of prostitutes in Bombay, focusing on an area called Karmathapuri, where over 200,000 women and girls, mainly from Nepal where the standard of living is lower than urban India, are herded into appalling living conditions. The film takes care to avoid sensationalism and gives only the information required to highlight the problem and stimulate effective changes in attitudes and in a system that has permitted such conditions to thrive.
