Reviews some common cutaneous manifestations of diabetes: pruritus, fungal infections, bacterial infections, gangrene, trophic ulcers. Considers some skin diseases especially associated with diabetes mellitus: necrobiosis lipoidica, granuloma annulare, diabetic dermopathy, xanthomata, bullous lesions in diabetics. Discusses those skin complications which can be caused by treatment of this metabolic disorder: lipoatrophy, fat hypertrophy, urticaria, keloid formation, purpura, ulceration.
