Cup to Lip: The Origin of Instrumental Action
- Synopsis
- How a seven-month-old girl reaches for and handles a cup. Deals with the child’s mastery of her environment, particularly of the environment of tools and implements that will aid her in carrying out her activities as an adult. Shows her reaching bilaterally for a cup, the two hands ‘coming in’ symetrically; the initial inability to bring the opening of the cup to the mouth and what happens when the cup is assimilated into the exploration of play.
