Synopsis
A reconstruction of the Battle of Culloden (1746) using local people as actors. First broadcast by the BBC in 1964. An account of the campaign against the Hanoverian throne and establishment; its gradual loss of momentum in the face of poor military decisions and the overwhelming historical logic of Hanoverian supremacy; the Battle of Culloden; and some of its consequences following the fates of some representative historical figures through the opening of the Highland Clearances. The video and DVD also contain Peter Watkin’s amateur film THE FORGOTTEN FACE and colour location footage of the making of CULLODEN.
