Crater of Death

Synopsis
Looks at the evidence discovered in 1979 of an extra-terrestrial impact that obliterated the dinosaurs and much other life. After some 12 years of detective work, scientists have discovered the 200km-wide crater left behind by one of the largest explosions since life began on earth, in the vicinity of Chicxulub, Mexico, which caused billions of tons of sulphuric acid to be released into the atmosphere and tidal waves across the globe. Shows a computerised reconstruction of the moment of the meteorite’s impact.
