Synopsis
Covers a range of new applications for digital technology and communications: Internet publishing, cartoon animation and videophone conferencing, with a description of how the telephone system developed from analogue to digital technology. Examines a pilot project in Swindon, Wiltshire, where the Mondex corporation is evaluating a smart card that stores cash electronically. Students evaluate the scheme, using approaches learned in the ‘Living with Technology’ course.
