Coming in from the Cold
- Synopsis
- The new arms control treaties use science to oversee the end of the Cold War and to check on cheating. Looks at methods of verifing stocks - methods such as fingerprinting a tank and using satellites detection - and at the new industry growing up around the verification - technological checking by each side of the other to ensure that each abides by any treaty. But both sides have already failed to agree on the crucial issue of aerial inspection, ahd too much technology could threaten an arms agreement.
