In five parts: 1) Berlin 1945-48: memoirs of Gregory Kilmov with an insight into the early Cold War years; 2) Hungary 1956: crushing the 1956 Hungarian uprising; 3) U2 and the Arms Race 1956-60: story of Gary Powers, the U-2 spy plane pilot shot down over Soviet airspace in 1960; 4) The Cuban Missile Crisis 1962: the stand-off between Kennedy and Khrushchev over Cuba; 5) ‘Evil Empire’ 1980s: events of the 1980s.
