Synopsis
Dr Christopher Andrew examines the origins of the Cold War: in 1945 Britain, America and the USSR were allies against Hitler; but soon after, on 5 March 1946, Winston Churchill speaking in Fulton, Missouri, denounced Soviet aggression in Eastern Europe and declared that Britain and the USA should unite more closely than ever to resist the new threat to world peace.
