Cognitive Development

Synopsis
Explains Piagetian theory and concepts and uses a range of practical examples and demonstrations to illustrate the main assumptions underlying Piagetian theory. Critically evaluates the methods, assumptions, evidence and applications of the theory and contrasts this with Bruner’s modes of representation and role of language in learning. Also briefly discusses recent development in metacognition and theory of mind, placing the area of cognitive development within a contemporary framework.
