- Synopsis
- Slides of an exhibition held at the RIBA Heinz Gallery 3 Feb-5 May 1996, which traced the development of cinema architecture in Britain. Arranged chronologically, the set first examines the earliest drawings of cinemas pre-World War 1 and the Regent in Brighton designed in 1919 by Robert Atkinson; the work of George Coles; the development of the Odeon chain with examples by Harry Weedon, George Colles and Andrew Mather; drawings by John Alexander and members of the Tecton partnership; and the model and drawings of Erno Goldfinger’s Odeon at Elephant and Castle.
