Chris Wilkinson: Bridging Art and Science
- Synopsis
- Chris Wilkinson and his partner Jim Eyre have been in practice in London since 1983. Ten years of research and travel led to publication of a book ‘Supersheds’, and this in turn helped him to be allocated two buildings for London’s Jubilee Line extension - Stratford Maintenenance Depot in 1991 and Stratford Station in 1994, the same year that the firm won its first bridge competition. Three more bridges, a building for Bristol 2000 Science World and a glass suspension bridge for London’s Science Museum were commissioned in 1995. Wilkinson describes all these projects.
