China in Change: The One-Child Family

Synopsis
The largest human experiment in history is being carried out in China, but at what cost? Populated by a billion people, a quarter of the world’s population, China is faced with a major reduction in its population growth. Stringent policies demand that all couples have one child only, to prevent widespread starvation by 2000 AD. The film explores the implications of the population crisis stressing the importance of a child’s close relationship to its mother and the psychological importance of simple, direct human relationships.
