Child’s Voice, The: Guardian ‘AD Litem’

Synopsis
Under the Children Act 1989 the role of the ‘guardian ad litem’ in representing the child’s interest in court was strengthened. The Children’s Society, a pioneer in this field, opened the first two projects based in Hull and Cleveland in 1986. This film shows how the Guardian ad Litem works, illustrating how the guardian ascertains the child’s wishes and feelings and at the same time ensures his/her best interests are always pursued when recommending a course of action to the court.
